This season we only managed to play one third of the game with Goodwill Pharma Szeged. our away game in Algyő had to be interrupted due to ice conditions (replay 02.11.). That meeting didn’t start well for our team, so we were very determined for Wednesday night’s match. Unfortunately, several of our experienced players were unable to play due to illness, so it was up to the youngsters.

Fortunately, they showed right away that they were up to the challenge of Szeged, who had several former Erste Lig players, in 5th place. Martin Sipák took the lead with a beautiful shot in the second minute. Two minutes later, Dániel Taródi made a brilliant solo effort to increase our lead to two. In the second half of the period Márk Nagy scored, but a minute and a half before the break Csiki scored, so we could “only” wait for the second half with a two-goal lead.

In the second period we showed that we hadn’t lost our energy, not even 1 minute had passed, Márk Koczkás was added to the list of scorers of the game. In this part of the game we lost a little bit of the rhythm, we often picked up the opponent’s style and although Norbert Lévai increased our lead to 4 at the 32. but with two quick goals(Szabó, Csiki) the visitors came back into the game.

In the last period we played our own game again, and we closed the game quickly, first Taródi and Nagy scored their second goals of the game, and then Filipp Nesterov scored the final goal with 10 minutes to go. We have to highlight the performance of our young goalkeeper, Ákos Mészáros , who kept our team in the lead with his great saves.

Unfortunately, a few minutes before the end, the game was disturbed by an extremely unsportsmanlike incident: the guest player Ádám Garbacz first fouled (pushing the ball into the boards), then hit our player skating towards the bench with his stick from behind, and after that, despite the referees’ intervention, he started a fight with the entire Győr bench.

Despite the incident, the enthusiastic crowd was treated to a great match, where the youngsters showed their skills! Go UNI GYŐR ETO!
