Our team had 3 games left in the EUHL regular season, which we completed in one weekend in Karcfalva, Szeklerland, at the Vicket Sekler Cup. The teams participating in the UNIVERSITY OF GYŐR HOCKEY CUP II in November competed again:
  • SAPIENTIA U23 – Karcfalva, Romania
  • UHT SABERS – Oswiecim, Poland
  • UNIVERSITY SPARTACUS – Košice, Slovakia
  • UNI GYŐR ETO HC – Győr, Hungary
We started the tournament on Friday night against the host Sapientia U23 team and we knew that we were in for a very tough fight. The Szekler team came out with the momentum of the favourites in the first period, but we managed to repel the attacks and create situations. However, there were no goals in this period.
Unfortunately, the second period started with a home goal, which we could not answer, and in the minutes before the break two more home goals were scored, but a last second goal by Jábor Bendegúz gave hope for the last third.
This hope was “cooled” again by a quick Sapi goal in the third period, and with a minute to go the score was already 5 for the hosts. Mátyás Odnoga managed to score another goal half a minute before the whistle, but it was only enough to make things look better.

On Saturday afternoon, the boys faced UHT Sabers from Poland, who we managed to beat at home in November, but since then they have gained a lot of strength and are currently in second place in the table.
After a fierce and scoreless first period, the Polish team was able to switch into a new gear in the second period, closing the period with almost twice as many shots on goal, but “only one goal”.
We didn’t give up, and through Mátyás Odnoga we could equalize in the final, securing 1 point for our team, as the Sabers could win the overtime.

Sunday’s meeting against the University Spartacus from Kassa was a real “rollercoaster”. We managed to equalize four times during the match through Áron Láday, Benedek Madácsi, Ádám Kiss and Mátyás Kiss, but in the last 10 minutes it became clear that due to injuries/illness we could only travel with less than 3 lines, and this was felt in the legs in the 3rd encounter. by the end of the game.
We had no answer to the fifth goal from Kassa, and a minute and a half before the end the sixth found its way into the goal of Nándor Róth.

This concludes the regular season of the 23/24 EUHL season for us.
Currently in playoff position 6. but the team behind us, Nitra, still have 4 games left in the season.
If he scores more than 4 points in these meetings, he will advance.
Whatever happens, we can say that we have played some very good, high quality games in the EUHL, and our team has clearly benefited from the start.
