We were preparing for our last home game in the Andersen Liga regular season, hosting last year’s semi-finalists, the Worm Angels from Dunaújváros on Saturday night. We could go into the game knowing that if we win both of our remaining games, we will definitely be at the top of the table for the playoffs.

Accordingly, we threw ourselves into the game with great energy, and in the first period the home team’s superiority was unquestionable, as shown by the four times as many shots on goal. However, we could only convert our advantage into goals only at the end of the period: first, Márk Almási scored a skilful puck in the 18th minute. and passed to Richárd Horváth (1-0), who was standing empty, and two minutes later, shortly before the whistle, Benedek Madácsi intercepted a pass from a visitor and passed to Márk Koczkás, who showed no mercy to Pinczés. (2-0)

In the second period we managed to maintain our superiority (almost twice as many shots on goal), but none of our attempts found their way into the Dunaújváros goal, so apart from one sending off, the middle 20 minutes were uneventful.

It looked like we would have to go without goals in the final third, but the ice was “broken” in the 8 minutes before the break. Norbert Lévai’s shot was still stuck in the block, but Balázs Takács, coming in at a great pace, beat the visitors’ goalkeeper (3-0). Four minutes later, Benedek Madácsi scored, with a fine shot from the bottom right corner. After the midfield kick-off even the visitors had a chance to flash, Szakács gave his best to a mid-range shot, Kornakker could not react in time. (4-1) Fortunately, we had some more powder in the gun, so we could finish the game with a home goal: Almási scored an agile puck from behind the goal, which he passed to Benedek Madácsi, who scored his second goal of the game. (5-1)

We have taken another step on the road to winning the regular season and now only one more hurdle lies ahead of us, next Saturday’s FTC-Telekom away game.
