Even during the long “summer break”, our team was busy preparing for the 23/24 season.

As a university-owned team, we pay special attention to the higher education of our players, as well as to the development of a complex career model.

There was no question that the EUHL (international university league) was part of this concept, so we did our best to take Győr hockey to the next level without any disruptions.

In January, we successfully organised the first UNI GYŐR HOCKEY CUP, which was visited by the EUHA Presidency, where they were convinced that we have all the conditions to join and were very happy to welcome us.

In June, we were invited to the annual team meeting and awards ceremony, where we managed to finalise all the details, and at the end of the summer it became official:

The UNI GYŐR ETO HC team – besides the Andersen League – will also compete in the EUHL in the 2023/24 season!

8 teams are participating (5 from Slovakia, 1 from Poland, 1 from Szeklerland, 1 from Hungary):

The UNI GYŐR HOCKEY CUP II will take place between 9-11 November, where the start of SAPIENTIA from Szeklerland is already guaranteed, so both of our matches will be played in front of the home crowd!

Mátyás Odnoga will be the head coach of our EUHL team, Lóránt Láday will assist him as an assistant coach and Igor Toth will take on the role of a “mentor coach” in building international relations.

It is safe to say that there will be no shortage of challenges and good matches this year, so it will be worth visiting the Győr Ice Sports Centre again this season !
