We started the season with a win at home!

On Tuesday evening our team made its debut on home court in the 2024/25 season, we hosted LEHEL HC in the first round of the Hungarian Cup. Last year, we also played the first game of the cup with the team from Jászberény, then the guests were the better team in the first game. We knew it would be a tough match and it was no different. After only three minutes we managed to take the lead, Richárd Horváth received a nice back pass, which he calmly rolled into the left post (1-0). We had to wait for the reaction only 1 minute, from a man advantage attack Antal managed to put the rebound into the goal of Róth (1-1). After that, we had to wait only 3 minutes for a home goal, after a beautiful triple play, Dániel Csölle bombed a shot from a sharp angle into the visitors’ goal (2-0). It looked as if we could go into the break with a one-goal lead, but 1 minute before the whistle Popov unleashed a bomb from the blue line, which he shot into the back of Pinczesz, who was skating in front of the goal, and the puck ricocheted off him and landed in the Győr net (2-2). In the second period we managed to change the rhythm, we were dictating the game, which resulted in a goal in the middle of the period: Márk Koczkás received a nice cross pass, which he shot from the slot, Monostori could not get back (3-2). Shortly afterwards, Bence Makovics found himself alone against the Jászberény goalkeeper and after a nice flick, he lifted the ball into the top right corner without any “handshake” (4-2). This period was clearly ours, we deservedly went into the second break with a 2 goal lead. The last half showed a much more even match, the first 10 minutes were all about missed chances on both sides. Fortunately we managed to break this, after a rebound Jábor Bendegúz found the goal from an impossible angle, almost from the goal line (5-2) . After the half-time break, the two protagonists of the previous goal came to the fore again, the visitors’ goalkeeper took a high flying puck with his hands and skated forward to start his teammates, but there was nobody in front of him, and Jábor was alert to strike the puck, which was then shot into the empty net by Bence Makovics (6-2).

With this result we could have settled the score, but there was still some gunpowder left in the Jászberényi team: 7 minutes before the end Prilutskii scored after a midfield pass (6-3).

We managed to fight with a difficult opponent, we could see many encouraging plays/solutions.In 2 weeks we have a rematch in Jászberény, which will also decide the qualification.
