The first match of the Andersen League semi-final was played at home against the Worm Angels from Dunaújváros, this match is now up to 3 matches, the goal is to reach the final.

Both teams came into the first period with a lot of energy, but we got off to a better start, with Bence Makovics scoring the only goal of the period after 12 minutes.

In the second period we also had the better start, Filipp Nesterov scored another goal for Győr in the first minute, and soon after Bence Marth scored after a beautiful shot. Here we could almost feel victory, but unfortunately this mentality took its revenge later on. We lost control and could not play our own game, which Hamvai did first in the 36th minute. and Gebei scored 30 seconds before the end to reduce our lead to one goal before the break.

In the last third we could not find ourselves completely, and we missed several chances, in the 52nd minute we were in the lead. And in the second minute, another Hamvai goal foreshadowed the end of the game. In the last few minutes we tried to take back the lead in several attacks, but we couldn’t break the opponent’s defence, so we had to go into extra time. In the extra period, the visitors played more dangerously throughout, which led to a 66. minute with a goal from Gebei.

This is not the start we would have liked in the semi-final, but there is no reason to be discouraged, we will have the chance to equal the score in Dunaújváros on Saturday! Go UNI GYŐR ETO
