We ended the year with a victory! UNI GYŐR ETO vs DAB-ASP 4:2

In the last game of the year we hosted DAB-ASP at home, where we wanted to repeat the confident win from the beginning of the season. Unfortunately, the day before the match, our captain and assistant coach Matyi Odnoga had a car accident, fortunately with minor injuries, but his absence was a painful point for our team. We wish you all the best and a speedy recovery!

The first period was more of a “getting acquainted” period, with both teams creating one major situation, but neither of them managed to convert.

This tendency was broken right at the beginning of the second period, unfortunately the visitors were successful after a quick counter attack by Domokos. Fortunately, we didn’t have to wait too long for a reply, and in just over 4 minutes Márk Nagy scored after a beautiful pass from Almási. Shortly before the break we took the lead, Bence Makovics’ cross bounced in our favour off a defender, and Valenta had no chance to save.

It seemed that the last period, like the first, would be more about missed chances than goals, but an unfortunate incident took place on the ice with 5 minutes to go. Makovics collided with Stan in a regular frame on the boards, sending both players to the ground, and Botkaev, who was nearby and completely lost control, began to hit Makovics on the head as he lay on the ground. This of course resulted in a 5 minute + permanent sending off, so we were sure to play the rest of the game with a man advantage. Despite this, they managed to make the end more exciting than it needed to be, with a minute and a half to go, Marosi scored the equaliser for the visitors, taking advantage of a dizzying defensive error. We were already preparing for extra time, but Mark Nagy thought otherwise and in the last 30 seconds he made a brilliant move to twice beat the visitors’ goalkeeper, getting the win in the last match of the year!

The boys have had a great year, showing exemplary fighting spirit in every match. We wish you the same for next year! Go UNI GYŐR ETO!
