On Tuesday evening the opening games of the Hungarian Cup II round took place, our team hosted the MAC Ikonok team in the Győr Jégsport Központ. Several unfortunate events made this an interesting day, the first one being the delay of our opponent, which delayed the start of the game by 30 minutes. Both teams came into the first period with a lot of energy, the first minutes were characterised by missed chances, but we managed to break the silence, in the ninth minute Márk Koczkás let a shot from a sharp angle from the middle distance find its way into the visitors’ goal (1-0). We didn’t have to wait long for a reply, a few minutes later MAC had a man advantage, after a successful party Jécsai shot from distance, our goalkeeper couldn’t react (1-1). The “return” came soon, Bence Dézsi shot the puck almost from the slot, which finally found its way into the net of the capital team (2-1). After that came another surprise, the jury stopped the game, as MAC did not meet the minimum 13+1 player requirement. Our statement on the incident is published without changes:

Dear fans! Dear Sports Friends!

Thank you very much for coming to the Hungarian Cup match last night at the Győr Ice Sports Centre to support the team. First of all, we apologize that the game started more than 20 minutes later instead of 18:30, the reason was that the opponent did not arrive on time. This was a disruption to our lives as well as the referees. The opposing team had submitted the entry en route, and 12 players’ names were written on it. This is just over the minimum number for an Andersen League match, but for the Hungarian Cup the rules require 13+1. This means that they cannot play in a Hungarian Cup match with less than this number. In fact, the game could not have started, but to the jury’s excuse, the guests did not even get to the ice for the warm-up, so the start was very rushed anyway. According to the rules we won the game 5-0, but there is still a rematch to be played and the Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation is investigating the case. We are very sorry that last night we could not show what we are capable of in 60 minutes. We are still serious about our participation in the Andersen League, the EUHL and the Hungarian Cup. Wherever we go, we always want to win. We expect the same from our opponents. This will also be the case in our next game on Saturday (11.16.) at 6 p.m. when we take on LEHEL HC, who like us want to win the Andersen League. In addition to doing our best to win, we would like to compensate you on Saturday for yesterday’s setback not only with our game, but also with a surprise. Details will be coming soon!

On Saturday we will play another top match, against Lehel HC, also unbeaten in the Andersen League.
