On Saturday evening, the crowd was prepared for the last home match of 2023, as our team hosted FTC-Telekom, who are third in the table, in the Andersen League.

The first period was very “sleepy”, the teams didn’t attack each other right away, but we couldn’t complain about the number of shots on goal. And in the 17th minute the result came: Ádám Kiss received a great pass from Jábor Bendegúz, who was recovering from injury, and he took advantage of it. We would have liked to go into the first break with a more comfortable lead, but no more goals were scored in the first period.

In the second period, both teams started the game at a noticeably higher tempo, but the rhythm change was better for the capital team, who managed to score the equalizer in the second minute through Pella. And ten minutes later Fradi took the lead, with Horváth scoring. It looked like the visitors would go into the break with the lead, but once again the team’s mental strength, which has improved a lot this season, showed: 4 seconds before the whistle, Benedek Madácsi received a beautiful long pass from Bence Láday, and Földes had no chance to save.

The last period started with a clean sheet, in which an absolutely even game unfolded, with missed chances on both sides. No goals were scored in the 20 minutes, so we had our first extra time of the season in front of our home crowd. We lined up with the trio Madácsi-Almási-Csölle for the extra 5 minutes and fortunately no substitution was needed to get the winning goal: after a great Mészáros save, Márk Almási “exploded” across the field with the puck and left little chance for Földes, bombing the decisive goal into the top right corner with ruthless precision.

At the end of the game, the crowd was again able to enjoy minutes full of excitement and we ended the year with a victory in the Győr Ice Sports Centre.

On the 23rd, the boys will face Vasas, and after a short break, we will resume with renewed vigour in January.
