The opening match of the 2023 UNI GYŐR HOCKEY CUP took place on 01.11 at 18:00, where our team hosted the UMB Hockey Team from Banská Bystrica in the Nemak Ice Hall.
The heated atmosphere was quickly followed by a “cold shower”, as the 16th edition of the tournament was held in the middle of the evening. in the second minute, a quick counter attack gave the visitors the lead through Novodomec. Fortunately, the boys recovered positively from the initial shock, and the rest of the period was an even, fast-paced game, with no goals on either side.
The second period saw the same enthusiasm from all the teams, with a high tempo game throughout the evening. The visitors scored the first goal in this period as well, Soltes successfully fired a long-range shot in the 27th minute. in minutes. However, the boys showed mental strength, and in less than 1 minute the answer came from a counterattack, Nagy Márk was the scorer. Less than half a minute before the break, Mark Nagy shone again, scoring the equaliser after a beautiful action.
For the last half the teams could enter the ice with a clean sheet, we managed to start this period better than the 2nd half. in the second minute we took the lead with a goal by Norbert Lévai! The visitors managed to respond through Pokrievka in the 47th minute. but the game was decided in the next 90 seconds. First Martin Sipák scored after a beautiful all-around play, but the announcer couldn’t even announce the goal, Márk Almási increased our lead to two! In the second half, Márk Koczkás was able to increase the number of goals, and Richárd Horváth scored an empty-goal goal to set the final score.
