On Saturday night we played our second Andersen League match at home, this time against the newcomer Vasas SC.

We already had a Hungarian Cup and EUHL game this week, we played very good hockey in both matches, and we had to carry that forward to this competition.

We started well in the first period, you could feel the pressure on our game, but we had to wait almost seven minutes for the first goal, a rebound was cut in by our young centre Csata Sebestyén. We continued to play in an attacking spirit, which was broken by a well done counterattack by the home team, Horácskó was successful. The spectators didn’t have to wait long for a reply, Dániel Csölle let a long-range shot go in the man advantage, which was saved by Chmelik, but he was helpless against Bencie Makovics. They did not give up, and 40 seconds later they took advantage of a defensive mistake, Szabó, who was standing empty, hit a clear shot into Kornakker’ s net. The excitement wasn’t over, Benedek Madácsi received a nice pass, which he mercilessly scored, and we went into the break with a 1 goal lead.

In the second period, the game almost turned in our favour, we had a lot of great chances and even more shots on goal, but we could only convert one of them into a goal.Dani Csölle bombed again from distance, which Beni Madácsi got a great touch on, so the puck ended up in Chmelik’s net unprotected.

In the last part of the game Győr’s dominance continued, which we could not convert into a goal in the first half of the period, but then the “goal bag” broke: Jábor Bendegúz, Csata Sebestyén, Madácsi Benedek and Csölle Dániel were also successful, thus securing our victory. With 1 minute to go, the visitors were able to take advantage of a defensive mistake, but could only make the score even.

The home crowd was treated to some real joy hockey, a well-deserved end to a week of struggle.

But they will not have time to be bored in the next one either, on Tuesday they will face DVTK Jegesmedvék in Miskolc in the Hungarian Cup, while on Saturday they will visit Szeged in the Andersen League.
