We started the EUHL playoffs on home soil as a road trip!

For the second season in a row, our team is competing in the international university league, the EUHL, and this year we managed to qualify for the playoffs, finishing 4th in the standings.

Our opponents for the last 4 were the team from Szolna UNIZA, and it was a reason for hope that we could win confidently over them in the regular season, both at home and away.

The first two games of the 3-game series were played at home, on Thursday and Friday night the two teams met in the Győr Jégsport Központ.

From the first minute of the first match, you could feel the superiority of Győr, which lasted for 2×60 minutes. We quickly took the lead in Thursday’s meeting, we made good use of our man advantage and Martin Sipák was well placed. 1-0
10 minutes later we had another man advantage, which we again managed to take advantage of: Jábor Bendegúz scored a clear shot on goal. 2-0
Less than 3 minutes before the break we found ourselves in another man advantage situation, which we managed to take advantage of this time through Barnabás Majoross. 3-0
After the break, the upset continued and after 10 minutes, Benedek Madácsi scored with a puck. 4-0
4 minutes later, the puck stuck to Jábor Bendegúz and finally found its way into the visitors’ goal. 5-0
In the last period we quickly registered goals, right in the first minute István Szűcs finished a nice attack with precision. 6-0
A couple of minutes later we found ourselves in a man advantage again, which we were able to use in a very good ratio in this encounter, this time Tovkach Yulian was our finishing man. 7-0
There was still some gunpowder left at the end, after a clever puck winning move Csata Sebestyén was able to mate the Zsolna goalie, setting the final score. 8-0

We started the match in a great way, and in the second match – on Friday – we continued the good streak: in the first third of the second match we literally destroyed Zsolna, scoring 7 goals in 20 minutes!
After his season in the Netherlands, Bence Dézsi, returning to the EUHL, scored a master triple in one period! In addition to Martin Sipák and Nikita Bogdanov, Bence Makovics and Benedek Madácsi also “checked in”.
The guests were noticeably broken after the first period, with fouls on both sides, and the goal production of the remaining two periods was reduced to 1 every 20 minutes: in the middle of the second period István Szűcs scored, while at the beginning of the last period Márk Vas scored, setting the final score of 9:0.

We have made a great start in the EUHL playoffs, and on Sunday in Zsolna we can even qualify for the playoffs.
