On Saturday night, one of the “newcomers” of the Andersen League, the Óbuda Hockey Academy, took to the ice at the Győr Ice Sports Centre. We are still unbeaten at the top of the table, so there was no question that the goal was to get 3 points at home.
This mentality was reflected from the very first minute, we put the capital’s goal under a lot of pressure and we didn’t have to wait too long for the first goal. In the sixth minute, Mátyás Odnoga put the puck in between 3 defenders and successfully finished the action. Just five minutes later we could increase our lead, Benedek Madácsi gave a very nice pass to the empty Majoross Barnabas, who bombed an uncontested shot into the short corner. There were no more goals in the third period, although there was no lack of shots on goal from Győr.
In the second half the game remained the same and again in the sixth minute Győr scored their first goal, Dániel Csölle scored from a well-played man advantage with a great long range finish. The similarity between the two periods did not end there, another home goal arrived in five minutes, Benedek Madácsi also “said hello”. No more goals were scored in this period, and the boys went into the break with a comfortable lead before the last period.
In the third period, the visitors managed to score their cosmetic goal, using their man advantage well through Dániel Nagy. There was still some excitement left for the endgame, a minute and a half before the final whistle, Bence Makovics found the empty-netter Norbert Lévai, who is not used to making mistakes in such situations.
Once again, the home crowd could see a confident team, we maintained control of the game throughout.
This form will be needed again on Wednesday at 18:30, when UMB from Banská Bystrica will come to Győr for an EUHL match.
