Machine-translated from Hungarian.
On Monday evening, in our fourth Andersen League match, we visited the league newcomers Lizards - Suzuki Barta at the MET Arena in Székesfehérvár. It was the first ever meeting between the two teams. Since our last league game we have also played at the University of Győr Hockey Cup V and in the Hungarian Cup, where last Tuesday we secured our place in the next round with an overtime win against DUE WORM Angels.
The game started with a penalty: Áron Láday went to the box in the very first minute, but we killed it without trouble. In the 4th minute we took the lead, as Bence Makovics found the net from a pass by Keve Bendegúz Sárkány and Miklós Wenner (0–1). We outshot the hosts 20–7 in the first period, and in the 19th minute Benedek Madácsi doubled our lead, assisted by Szabolcs Beck (0–2).
In the second period the home side got more shots away: they answered our 19 shots on goal with 17. We once again killed a penalty, this time to Benedek Madácsi, but neither side scored, as both the home goalkeeper Herceg and Noah Áron Simo in our net kept a clean sheet in the period.
Early in the final period István Szűcs took a two-minute penalty, but just over half a minute after returning to the ice he was already setting up a goal: in the 47th minute Sebestyén Csata extended our lead from his pass (0–3). In the 52nd minute the roles were reversed, with Csata providing the pass and Szűcs scoring (0–4). After Szűcs, Bence Makovics, Miklós Wenner and, twice, Sebestyén Csata were also penalised in the period, and in the 55th minute we played two men short for just over a minute, but the home side could not find a way past us. Noah Áron Simo made 39 saves to finish the game with a clean sheet, just as he did in the season opener in Zalaegerszeg.
We returned to league action with a 4–0 shutout win: we outshot the hosts 50–39, they failed to score on any of their seven power plays, and Noah Áron Simo kept a clean sheet in his second league game as well. The win takes us to 9 points and second place in the Western Group, level on points with DUE WORM Angels, and they are our next opponents: on Saturday 31 October at 5.30 pm we play a Halloween game at the Győr University Ice Sports Centre – come along in fancy dress! Thank you to the Győr supporters for travelling with us on Monday evening too!
