On Tuesday night we reached the semi-finals of another league, hosting the Worm Angels at home in the Andersen League playoffs. A week ago we had already taken a step towards qualification, winning a confident away win in a match that went down to 2 meetings.

The intense matches of the past few days did not leave us without a trace, we started the match with a more subdued attitude than we had, and we had several sharp situations in front of our goal. Piszmann arrived in perfect rhythm for a rebound. 0-1
The surprises didn’t end there, after a turnover Lencsés was able to surprise our goalkeeper with a shot from mid-range. 0-2
It wasn’t what we expected, but from the half of the period onwards Győr was clearly under pressure, and the result was a minute and a half before the break. 1-2

The second period started much better for our team, just 3 minutes after the start Martin Sipák “caught” a puck in the visitors’ third, and the pass was routinely scored by Benedek Madácsi.2-2
At the half of the period Fortuna was on our side, Csata Sebestyén’s pass bounced into the net off a defender’s foot, which allowed us to take the lead. 3-2

By the last period the difference between the two teams became clear, the pitch was almost completely upset, there were more than 5 times as many shots on goal from Győr as from Dunaújváros. The result was not lost: Benedek Madácsi scored twice in the beginning of the period, increasing the lead to three with a master triple. 5-2
There was still some action left for the final moments, with a minute and a half to go Martin Sipák hit a rebounded puck with a great look to set the final score. 6-2

The match started harder than we would have liked, but with persistent work we managed to overwhelm the Worm Angels’ defence and qualify for the top 4 in the Andersen League!
On Friday, the boys will face another challenge, and a real rival: in the first match of the semi-final we will host Lehel HC at 18:30.
