UNI GY\u0150R ETO HC achieved an amazing feat in the 2024\/25 season, as they reached the finals of both the Andersen League and the EUHL<\/strong>. The team began their finals campaign this week, first travelling to Bansk\u00e1 Bystrica in the EUHL<\/strong>, where they were met by last year’s champions and confident regular season winners UMB<\/strong>. <\/p>\n The first two matches of the three-match series were played away from home. Wednesday’s match was a huge surprise<\/strong> as our team triumphed 4:3 in extra time<\/strong>! The first period was uneventful, but the second period was a real boost. Bence D\u00e9zsi’s successful penalty gave us a 3:2 lead at the break.<\/strong> At the beginning of the third period UMB managed to equalize<\/strong>, and no more goals were scored, so it was time for overtime. In this one, Hunor Gergely kept the team in it with amazing saves<\/strong>, and the goalkeeper had mercy on our opponent. Expositions made things difficult, but we managed to save a man advantage and in the 71st minute Benedek Mad\u00e1csi decided the match!<\/strong> <\/p>\n The next day, Thursday night, was another evenly matched battle<\/strong> on the ice, but this time UMB took their chances more effectively.<\/strong> In the first period, they took an early lead and converted a single and a double man-advantage into a goal. In the second period, they scored from a man down and even converted a penalty to win the game 7-0<\/strong>. <\/p>\n Although the result of the second match did not go as expected, our team can return home proudly<\/strong>, as they managed to get a win at the home of the defending champions<\/strong>, thus taking one of their advantages. This clearly showed that UMB is not unbeatable<\/strong>. <\/p>\n The duel will continue on Monday and Tuesday (7-8 April) in Gy\u0151r<\/strong>, at the Gy\u0151r University Ice Sports Centre<\/strong>, where we will fight for the title in front of our home crowd.<\/p>\n In the meantime, the Andersen League finals<\/strong> will kick off on Saturday (5 April) in Szeged<\/strong> against Goodwill Pharma Stilaxx Szeged<\/strong>.<\/p>\n One thing is for sure: we are in for an exciting time and we will need the support of all our fans!<\/strong> Go, UNI GY\u0150R ETO HC!<\/p>\n In our gallery we have selected the best pictures of the match:<\/p>\n<\/div>Photo by Maro\u0161 B\u00farik (UMB hockey)<\/h5><\/h1><\/span>
