18 October was about humanity and acceptance here at the Gy\u0151r Ice Sports Centre.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Organised by the Gy\u0151r Embers\u00e9g DSE<\/strong>, in cooperation with the Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University<\/strong>, B\u00fcchl Hungaria<\/strong> and the Gy\u0151r ETO HC<\/strong>, the Tuesday morning programme was an ice sports day for people with disabilities. <\/span><\/p>\n

According to the participants, many of them had never had the opportunity to visit an ice rink before, so the participants from the four institutions in the area were able to enjoy a truly special experience. <\/span><\/p>\n

After a joint warm-up, the participants had the chance to test their strength in a series of competitions, and soon the players and the helpers (recreation students of Sz\u00e9chenyi University) got along well, they encouraged each other and in the end everyone left with a gold medal. The medals and the certificates were presented by Dr. Tam\u00e1s Gy\u00f6m\u00f6rei<\/strong>, Associate Professor of the University, S\u00e1ndor Gy\u00f6keres<\/strong>, Managing Director of B\u00fcchl Hung\u00e1ria, L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Nagy<\/strong>, Director of Rad\u00f3-school and \u00c1kos Nagy<\/strong>, Managing Director of the host sports club Gy\u0151ri ETO HC.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the award ceremony Tam\u00e1s Kert\u00e9sz<\/strong>, President of Embers\u00e9g DSE, said, “We were delighted to see everyone put up a brave and excellent fight. It proved that the ice is not evil, and that it was safe to compete against each other by following the rules. The emphasis was not on the result this time, it was good to see the encouragement and help. It is a positive thing that para-sport is becoming more and more important in the city. We now have a wheelchair handball team, the Gy\u0151ri Szekerek, which played its first championship games.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It was a great opportunity for all participants to experience the bonding and community-building power of sport and movement.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>
